Description

This course teaches students when and how to correctly administer supplemental oxygen to a patient using various delivery devices. Students will also learn how to maintain the patient’s airway, administer suction, oral airways, advanced airway techniques, and how to properly assemble and handle oxygen equipment

Duration

Half-Day (four hours)

Completion 

  • Successfully demonstrate skills and critical steps
  • 75% mark for written knowledge evaluation
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

Certification 

3-year certification in Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management

Learning Objectives

  • Scene management and primary assessment
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Delivery devices - bag valve mask (BVM), pocket mask, and non-rebreathing mask
  • Pulse oximetry
  • Oxygen administration and complications
  • Proper handling and storage of oxygen equipment (cylinders, regulators…)
  • Suction
  • Assisted Respiration
